Deep South Center for Environmental Justice

  • Facilitating learning design in a 5 year project to help build capacity in high school students who have an interest in Climate Justice.
  • Developing training and curriculum in digital storytelling to share out stories about their communities that have been adversely affected by weather events tied to climate change (ie. hurricanes, flooding) and environmental racism.
  • The grant for this project was awarded by the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine and a stipend for the students’ participation was written into the grant. This was an important step to guide the students into the Climate Justice career pathway and legitimize the work they are doing with and for their communities. This grant was created to provide opportunities to the students in training and education that could not be found in their school systems
